xxx is a new Top Level Domain Name (TLD), specifically designed for the benefit of the global online adult entertainment industry. It is a TLD approved by ICANN, specifically for use by the adult industry to reach their global audience using easy to remember, directly relevant domain names.

The .xxx domain launch is split into various phases as shown below:-

Landrush:

Apply for a domain registration during this phase if you are a member of the sponsored community* but without a trademark.

This phase is not first-come, first-served and if more than one valid application is received for a domain during Landrush, then the name will be entered into an auction. Applicants will then have the opportunity to bid for the domain name. Auctions are operated by Pool.com.

.xxx Landrush auctions will be held after the Landrush phase.

General Availability:

This phase is open to anybody without restriction and is a first-come, first-served launch. This is the point at which live registrations will take place, allowing you to buy domains instantly. Upon confirmation from the registry, you will be the legal owner of the domain registration requested. Non-members of the adult Sponsored Community can also get "Non-Resolving" names.

It is highly recommended that you Pre-Order your .xxx domain registrations for General Availability before the phase launches to give you the best chance of securing your desired domains.

DEFINITIONS

Sponsored Community The Sponsored Community consists of individuals, business, entities, and organizations that fit one of the following descriptions:

1.	Provide Online Adult Entertainment intended for consenting adults ("Providers") (e.g. adult webmasters, performers, studios, store owners, club operators);
2.	Represent Providers ("Representatives") (e.g. lawyers, agents, advisors, accountants, affiliates);
3.	Provide products or services to Providers and Representatives ("Service Providers") (e.g. adult domainers, manufacturers, delivery companies, caterers, distribution companies, merchant account services, make up artists, stylists, hosting services).
4.	Prospective rights through pre-owned strings in other TLDs: Applicant must operate a corresponding domain name in another IANA-recognized TLD in current use in "Eligible Commerce". Eligible Commerce includes the current, bona fide provision of Online Adult Entertainment, representation of Online Adult Entertainment Providers, and/or the provision of products and/or services to Online Adult Entertainment Providers and/or their representatives.

Sponsored Community authentication process:

1.	Registrant submits an application for a name in Sunrise A
2.	ICM Registry sends the registrant an introduction email with a validation link to the registrant's contact email address provided with the application.
3.	The registrant clicks on the validation link in the ICM Registry email and is directed to the ICM Membership Application form.
4.	The registrant fills out the ICM Membership Application (free of charge, takes about 5 minutes to complete, only have to do this one time per email account, not per domain).
5.	As a part of ICM's Membership Application, the registrant has to do the following: - provide correct birth date information, - agree to ICM's terms of service and - attest to being a member of the Sponsored Community.
6.	ICM Registry will validate certain contact details: - Address and - Phone Number
7.	ICM Registry will call the phone number provided during the Membership Application.
8.	In that phone call, ICM Registry will provide the registrant with a PIN # (real time) and the applicant will input the pin in the designated area in the Membership Application process. The validation process is now completed.
